President Trump released a transcript of his controversial call with Ukraine’s leader and no one is satisfied.
‘The GOP is not pleased and believe this is the start of a second witch hunt while the Democrats believe Trump guilty.
That is partisan stuff we expected but today’s news did bring a few surprises. The transcript mentioned Bill Barr a few times causing the DOJ to respond.
“The president has not spoken with the attorney general about having Ukraine investigate anything relating to former Vice President Biden or his son,” DOJ spokeswoman Kerri Kupec said.
“The president has not asked the attorney general to contact Ukraine — on this or any other matter.
The attorney general has not communicated with Ukraine — on this or any other subject. Nor has the attorney general discussed this matter, or anything relating to Ukraine, with Rudy Giuliani.”
But then they also dropped a bombshell – Bill Barr is still investigating what in the hell happened with the Clinton’s and the Obama’s during the 2016 and has opened an investigation to determine whether Ukraine was involved.
The Justice Department revealed U.S. Attorney John Durham, picked by Attorney General William Barr to look into the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation, is investigating whether Ukraine was involved in any 2016 election efforts.
“A Department of Justice team led by U.S. Attorney John Durham is separately exploring the extent to which a number of countries, including Ukraine, played a role in the counterintelligence investigation directed at the Trump campaign during the 2016 election,” DOJ spokesperson Kerri Kupec said Wednesday.
“While the Attorney General has yet to contact Ukraine in connection with this investigation, certain Ukrainians who are not members of the government have volunteered information to Mr. Durham, which he is evaluating.”
Durham has been Barr’s right hand as the two look into the complicated and classified issues surrounding how an investigation into the Trump campaign’s alleged ties with Russia — dubbed “Crossfire Hurricane” — got its start, though the U.S. Attorney from Connecticut has been virtually silent since his selection.
